作为运动产品龙头，Nike 在声名冲出国际之后仍不忘本，一直以来关心黑人权益的联合创办人 Phil Knight 与妻子近日向 1803 基金会「Rebuild Albina」计划捐款 $4 亿美元，旨在为当地黑人族群的教育服务、艺术文化项目等提供资金支持，改善居民生活并建立对于社区的归属感以回馈波特兰。
Albina 在 1900 年代初期被认为是黑人群体的重点地区，但是到了 1960 年代，该地在 5 号州际高速公路建设等城市更新项目下遭到大量破坏，造成许多民众和企业流离失所、暴力事件增加。
除了这次行动之外，Phil Knight 早前也有资助一些波特兰的启蒙计划，让当地青年获得专业指导，解决就业问题；而 Nike 在波特兰设立的门市，亦会将利润分给当地社区，用于协助发展，有兴趣的读者不妨多加留意。
