预定在今年正式上线的 Netflix《ONE PIECE》真人版影集似乎有了些变数，随着主角 Luffy 在 5 月 5 日迎来生日，作者尾田荣一郎就亲自分享了关于真人版影集的想法。
其中他提到在 2016 年他之所以会点头答应制作真人版影集，最大的原因是考量到自己的年纪，这或许是将《ONE PIECE》推向全世界的最后机会，「如果我们要制作真人版影集，我希望能够在我仍然有心力的时候亲自监督。」
接着尾田荣一郎指出他与 Tomorrow Studios 和 Netflix 已经合作了一段时间，但由于文化背景的差异，使得彼此有时难以取得共识，「尽管他们了解每个角色，但我们显然来自截然不同的文化，所以在娱乐方面我们有着不同的准则与思维，有时这可能让我们双方都感到沮丧。」
「感觉就像是『我们都有同样的目标，但为什么我们不在同一个频率上？』甚至有一段时间我不禁怀疑『海外制作真的有可能吗？』」最后尾田荣一郎确认，尽管 Netflix 为制作投入了大量资源，且预定 2023 年上线，但在他满意之前，这部真人版影集不会仓促发布。
