帕拉特在2009年的时候曾要客串一个名叫《公园与休憩》（《Parks and Recreation》）的情景喜剧，为了这个客串角色他要增肥要300多斤，对于那个时候本来就没啥身材管理的帕拉特来说这都不叫事，还跟剧组的成员打赌看看自己能多久变胖，有时候一顿饭能吃四个汉堡。
而他的增肥和天生的喜剧天赋也让这部剧的制片人非常喜欢，决定把他的角色从客串变成常驻角色。
当时的帕拉特，就是这个身材去参加的面试，因为身材原因他之前参与《星际迷航》和《阿凡达》的面试都被刷下去了。
要等一个有独特演员的导演，帕拉特才会有机会绽放。
本身就是混混出身的他，再加上他的喜剧天赋一下子俘获了滚导，滚导给他说愿意给他一个机会。
帕拉特用6个月的时间减轻了70斤，把腹肌从一块练成八块。
