好莱坞知名派拉蒙集团（Paramount Global）近日传出重大消息，根据《Variety》报导，继 2017 年大幅缩减规模后，立足长达 36 年、曾是观众获得音乐和流行文化情报首选平台的主流网路新闻媒体 MTV News 正式宣布停止营运，走入历史。
此次关闭 MTV News 为 Showtime、MTV Entertainment Studios 和 Paramount Media Networks 共计裁撤 25% 员工措施的一部分，对此，娱乐部门总裁 Chris McCarthy 认为是「非常艰难但必要的决定」，因为公司正在设法应对持续增长的经济压力。
同时，公司亦正在推进旗下 9 个独立团队，包括 Nick、MTV、Comedy Central、Paramount Network、CMT、Smithsonian、TV Land、Logo、Pop TV 的合并计划，而 Showtime 和 MTV 工作室也同样面临整合，读者不妨多加留意相关消息。
