根据 EMPIRE 最新报导指出，Christopher McQuarrie 曾在 2020 年访谈中表示他与 Tom Cruise 希望将《Jack Reacher》电影打造成 R 级限制级电影，并同时寻求制作一部硬派与 R 级限制级电影的机会，并为 Tom Cruise 安排一个颠覆大众对于他既定银幕印象的角色。近期 McQuarrie 说到该片正在开发中，预计将于《Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two》后展开制作，并以「The Gnarly Movie（非常危险而又令人兴奋的电影）」作为代号称之。
